Introduction:
The bomb blast of 12 th March 1993 at Mumbai shook the entire world. I wanted to read this book to know how they managed to plan and execute the same in the city which is marked as one of the safest city in the world. This is the first book of author Hussain Zaidi. He worked as a crime reporter in the various tabloid in Mumbai. In this book, he has tried to showcase the whole scenario of planning and execution of bombing. So let's move to the plot summary.
Plot Summary:
The book starts with the brief history of time (or can be the reason of bomb blast). On the date of 6 th December 1992, Babri Masjid was demolished. The whole operation was led by the head of Right wing Hindu fundamentalist Lal Krishna Advani. Their argument was that the place actually belongs to Ram (Deity of Hindus) and it is the birth place of him. They believe that Babar invaded in India and made this Masjid on this land. However nobody actually knows what is right and what is wrong but after the demolition of Masjid, communal riots starts happing all over the country.
Later, on the date of 12 th March 1993 Mumbai witnessed 10 bomb blast at the following places:
1) 1.28 PM - Bombay Stock Exchange
2) 2.15 PM- Masjid Bandar
3) 2.25 PM- Air India Office
4) 2.30 PM- Sena Bhavan Dadar
5) 2.55 PM: Passport office (Worli)
6) 3.05 PM : Zaveri Bazar
7) 3.13 PM: Plaza Cinema
8) 3.20 PM: Sea Rock Hotel - Bandra
9) 3.23 PM: Centuar Hotel - Juhu
10) 3.35 PM: Centuar Hotel - Domestic Airport
The 10 bomb blast in the span of 2 hours really shook the entire world. There was chaos everywhere, roads were jammed, trains were jammed. The entire Mumbai (Then Bombay) was on its knee. Over 257 people were death and 713 people were injured. It was the first bomb blast in the world where RDX was used.
Police were suspecting the hand of LTTE, ULFA, but they knew that this type of crime can never happen without the help of local people. Then DCP (Traffic) Rakesh Maria actively involved in the investigation and they manage to make the arrest on the 3 rd day itself.
They found in the investigation that the mastermind behind the bomb blast was Ibrahim Mushtaq Abdul Rajak Memon aka Tiger Memon, who was a gold and silver smuggler. He was the one who gathered all of his trusted aides and then provide training in Pakistan. Later, It was revealed that the fund was provided by the Dawood Ibrahim. The whole event takes place with the help of ISI, Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memon.
This bomb blast was the consequences of communal riots of Hindu-Muslim.
Writing style:
This is a non-fiction book and it's a kind of research-based book. The writing style and flow is amazing and he has provided every single detail of '93 bomb blast effectively.
My perception:
Although this is a very sensitive issue but I would like to add my point of view here. Nobody knew whom exactly the land belong to but due to selfishness, ignorance the whole unfortunate event occurred. There were many innocent people who have lost their life in the bomb blast. The communal riots of Hindu- Muslim was really absurd. But when you think rationally you will find that both Hindu and Muslim were equally suffered in this riots. There was no point of taking revenge.

Movie based on this book:
In 2007, Anurag Kashyap made a movie based on this book with same title 'Black Friday' However, the movie never got permission to get released.
